Ghostwriting/coauthoring

Have a book you want to write—but lack the time or ability to do it on your own? I ghostwrite and collaborate on books for a variety of clients ranging from health professionals to businesspeople to nonprofit organizations. I can work with an outline or material you’ve already written or partner with you to conceptualize, organize, develop, and write the book from scratch.

I'm reliable, professional, and easy to work with. I love collaborating with smart people to get their ideas in print, and helping them become book authors. Whether you plan to work with a traditional publisher or publish your book yourself with a print-on-demand (“POD”) company, I can guide you through the process, decide which option is best for you, and create a book that will reflect your unique voice, your idea, and your purpose. In the meantime, read below for a few things to consider when you’re considering hiring a ghostwriter or coauthor.

I have more than fourteen years' of experience in the publishing business, and am a ghostwriter, collaborator, and the author of twelve books, including Goodbye Byline, Hello Big Bucks: The Writer’s Guide to Making Money Ghostwriting and Coauthoring Books, which is on sale now at Amazon.

Before you Hire a Ghostwriter…

Thinking about hiring a ghostwriter or collaborator for your book project? Keep these questions in mind:

  • Do you plan to try to sell your book to a traditional publisher, or will you be using a print-on-demand company? Do you understand the pros and cons of working with each?

  • What’s your purpose in writing the book?

  • Who’s the audience for your book? Do you plan to sell your book, and if so, why will readers want to buy it?

  • What’s your timeline?

  • What’s your budget? (Ghostwriting an entire book typically costs $15,000 to $35,000+ depending on the length, scope of the project, author involvement, and other factors. If you have a manuscript or material already written that needs reworking, fees will be lower.)

  • Do you have material for your ghostwriter to use (such as the beginning of a book, an outline, some chapters), or will your ghostwriter work with you to create the book from scratch?

  • What’s your biggest hope for your book? What’s your biggest fear about writing a book?

When talking with potential ghostwriters/collaborators, you’ll want to ask questions like:

  • How long have you been ghostwriting?

  • What do you know about the subject of my book? Have you written about it before?

  • How do you charge?

  • How do you like to work with a client?

  • How will you capture my voice?

  • How will I know that my message will come through?

  • What can you bring to my project?

  • What do you think of my vision for the book?

  • What do you think my best publishing route is? Why?

  • What should I know as a client before I hire a ghostwriter or collaborator?
